What is the Order of the Arrow? The Order of the Arrow (OA) is a program of the Boy Scout division of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It is the BSA's national honor society for experienced campers, based on American Indian traditions, and dedicated to the ideal of cheerful service. Members of the Order of the Arrow are called Arrowmen.

Company Bio

Preservation Software was started in 1996 by Rusty Reeves. See a history of our jewel-cases over the years. Scott Dillard and Bill Topkis joined soon after bringing their considerable talents to the company. Scott's Visual Basic skills and hard work ethic enhanced our CD from its inception. Bill's vast knowledge of OA history and his affiliation as Blue Book editor and cofounder put us on a solid and reputable footing. As the Blue Book itself grew to phone book proportions it was inevitable that a digital system replace the hardcopy paper version. Combing the best from Blue Book into Preservation Software's digital library was the best solution for all parties. Blue Book's numbering system and lodge history along with our full color digital image library enabled collectors to enjoy the best of both worlds. Scott later developed our Tracker software to further aid collectors in keeping tabs on their collections. As Tracker continues to grow along with the image base, our product stands head and shoulders above any competition. We are proud of the fact that we've found a way to preserve the past in a somewhat permanent fashion for collectors of OA memorabilia. Preserving the past for the future has long been our goal.

Special thanks to John Pannell who runs the INTERNET GUIDE TO OA INSIGNIA. We have continued to share images for many years with John. By cooperating and sharing data, both our products reap the rewards and the hobby as a whole benefits. Please visit John's site at http://www.oaimages.com/ . Likewise, many of you have contributed images over the years. Without your help we would never be this far along in the process. Thank you all very much for displaying that "can-do" attitude. There's little doubt that the three men responsible for this project are all Eagle Scouts. Eagle is more than just a rank... it is a way of life. It is about setting impossible goals and then achieving them. I started out with a few hundred scans of flaps and an idea. I had plenty of people tell me it was an impossible idea. With the help of Scott and Bill we made it happen.

Version 6.0 was released summer 2006 as a 2-CD set. Without a doubt the Blue Book CD is the premier reference guide for identifying all Order of the Arrow insignia. Our goal is to release newly updated CDs every 2 years. You can purchase the CD by clicking on the PayPal button in the upper right corner.

Lodge Name Pronunciations

Preservation Software has undertaken the task of trying to record the pronunciation of the Order of the Arrow lodges. So far as we are aware, no one has ever tried to record this important piece of OA history! This web site has been constructed for you to be able to hear the 500+ lodge names already recorded and to help us by submitting pronunciations for the approximately 200 lodge names of which we still need recordings.
